“Digital disruption has accelerated in the last year and brings big new questions for professional investors right now.

One of them is how to consider crypto assets, like bitcoin.

I’m Rupertus Rothenhaeuser, CEO of the Brokerage at the Crypto Finance Group

Why will every bank need a crypto asset strategy?

Without a strategy for crypto assets, banks will be unable to serve their clients’ needs in the future.

Crypto assets are emerging as a ‘safe-haven’ asset – as alternative stores of value in a portfolio. The appeal is the blockchain technology and the independence these assets have from central bank and government policies.

It’s possible for banks, because crypto asset regulation is advancing. Today, you can have a crypto asset strategy within the regulated finance sector.

Our brokerage is an example of this: we received a licence as a securities firm from the Swiss financial authority, FINMA.

The timing couldn’t be better:

Distributed ledger technology – blockchain – is beginning to establish itself at the heart of banking.

Without it, banks will miss out on opportunities for efficiency and access to new digital markets.
